[Termtools] upcoming competition

dear all,

two things, one open for discussion, the other not. :)

1.) [not open for discussion]
the termcomp web application will go offline today at c. 18:00 and  
will be available again at c. 19:00. during this period, the current  
database will be purged and reinitialized with the corrections  
proposed to the TPDB (removing TRS/CRS/tmp and some bugs which peter  
schneider-kamp has fixed in some LP problems).
reasoning: the current database (not only tpdb, also all other data)  
has been heavily used for internal and external testing and contains  
many inconsistencies as well as some minor structural problems.
consequences: the termcomp application on colo5-c703 will go into  
"production" status at c. 19:00 today. a different server and database  
will subsequently be used for development (and internal and external  
testing of the termcomp software itself). also, teams and tools will  
have to be recreated, which leads us straight to:

2.) [open for discussion, johannes please post a discussion deadline]
we are ready to start the competition as planned on 1/Nov/2008 @  
00:01, we suggest that the deadline for tool submission and testing is  
24hrs beforehand, making it 31/Oct/2008 @ 00:01, after which  
submission will be deactivated on the website.
reasoning: 00:01 so that no confusion arises with 00:00 and 24:00,  
24hours beforehand was a value proposed in leipzig and never really  
discussed.
